February Meeting Recap
Our February meeting proved to be an exciting one!
To start the meeting, we had 9 guests sign in! We are so happy they could join us and hope to see them again soon! Our drawings every month have a slight change. We will draw door prizes for members attending and guests attending as usual, and have added another drawing for charity projects. At sign in, you will be given tickets for each charity project turned in, you fill them out and these will be drawn from at the end of meeting. At the end of the year, all charity project tickets will be put in a big pot for an end of year drawing! Get those charity projects in to be counted!
In a touching tribute, Ann Revard our past president, was presented with a batch of blue heart quilts to thank her for her hard work on the Quilts for Peace program last year. This program will continue under her guidance for future needs.
Another big excitement was awarding our 2016 QuiltCon Charity Quilt! Unfortunately, we had trouble communicating with the winner drawn at our January meeting and the quilt was declined. Therefore, back up tickets were drawn and we announced the winner as……..(drum roll please) Trish Fowlkes!!!!! There were many happy tears (see action shots) and we are SO happy our quilt went to a loving home!
Rhonda and Jenn updated the guild on The North Texas Quilt Festival. T shirts will be sold for $12. Online entries for the quilt show are now open and will close on May 1. Each guild will be able to sell donated quilts and members were asked to create mini quilts (not to exceed 24”x 24”) for the silent auction. We have batting donated to the guild to use on these minis! Proceeds for each guild’s quilts auctioned will go to that guild to do with as they wish. Members of multiple guilds must choose only 1 guild to enter quilt show entries under. We hope to make this show a success so that we can continue to participate in the future. Plan now to volunteer Aug 24-26! We need volunteers to make this a success!
We took a short break to get to know each other and make Scandinavian Stars. We succeeded in many laughs and making memories, but few succeeded in actually making stars. Kristi really got the hang of it and was a Star making machine! If you made a star at meeting or figured it out at home, show us on instagram and tag the guild @fortworthmqg!
Members Showed off their Vintage Quilt Revival BOM. We are only in the second month and plenty of time to join in!
We had an amazing show and share this month and welcomed several guests to show off their work!
Can’t wait to see everyone’s lovely faces and projects at our March meeting on the 16th! Come learn the tips and tricks of entering a quilt show!
